Talks and Visits

We have talks during September to March on a the last Tuesday Evening in the month at 7.00pm (apart from December).

They are held in the Gerrans Memorial Hall, Gerrans Hill, Portscatho, TR2 5EE

They will be advertised here and by email to those who allow their email to be used.

  24/11/2026 Evening Event Gerrans. 7.00pmThe Rise of the Risso's presented by Josh Symes ( acknowledged no 1 in Europe for his knowledge of Risso's Dolphins);

and 22 years of Cetaceans etc in the SW Celtic seas:- The research of Duncan Jones, from Marine Discovery, Penzance. ( currently a finalist for the National Biodiversity  Network Award 2026) for his meticulous scientific record keeping.

26/01/2027 Evening Event  Gerrans. 700pm The Most Remarkable Insect Migrants.  How these tiny travellers shape our world. A presentation by Dr Will Leo Hawkes. Ecological Entomologist and Conservation Officer for Buglife. Just published as a book.

23/02/2027 Evening event  Gerrans 7.00pm  Further exploits of the Lone Kayaker. Rupert Kirkwood risking life and limb in his search for the wildlife of our West country rivers and seas.

23/03/2027. Evening event still to be organised, possibly by David Hall on "Gull Rock"
